Healthcare services for tourists in the Lika-Senj County

The Lika-Senj County Health Center is the primary health care provider in the Lika-Senj County. It provides health services to domestic and foreign tourists through Tourist Clinics organized in Gospić, Karlobag, Novalja, Senj and The Plitvice Lakes (Mukinje).

Domestic tourists receive health care on the basis of a valid health insurance card, while foreign tourists are entitled to health care under the same conditions as the insured persons of Croatia, provided that they have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

If foreign tourists do not have a valid European Health Insurance Card, they must pay for the health care service in accordance with the valid price list of the Lika-Senj County Health Center.

Emergency Medical Assistance

For all life-threatening or seriously health-impairing emergencies, call 194 for emergency medical help.

(sudden difficulty in breathing, suffocation by a foreign object, cardiac and respiratory arrest, loss of consciousness, sudden chest pain, spasms (convulsions), difficulty speaking, weakness or feeling loss of a body part, facial distortion, injuries caused by traffic accidents and other sudden injuries (falling from a high place, shot), unusual bleeding, electric shock or lightning, hypothermia, heat stroke, drug poisoning).

In case an acute condition occurs outside of the working hours of the Tourist Clinic or the Clinic of Family Doctors, emergency medical care will be provided in the Clinics of the Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Lika-Senj County from 0 to 24 hours..
