Memorial home – Dr. Ante Starčević
Not far from Gospić, just 4 kilometres away is the village of Veliki Žitnik, which is the birthplace of the great Croatian historian Dr. Ante Starčević. That’s exactly where you’ll find the Memorial Home of Dr. Ante Starčević in which you can revive his character. You will learn something new about the man who many call the Father of the Nation; he was a lawyer and a people’s representative and glorified Croatian history and culture.
This memorial house has become a multimedia centre for all those whom Starčević inspired with his thoughts and works – pupils, students and all lovers of nature and picturesque ambience of the traditional Lika village.
Find out something new with various educational content, especially through the documentary Past in the Present: Ante Starčević by Vladimir Fučijaš, in the production of the Croatian Radio and Television. In addition, in this cottage, you will see an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Dr. Ante Starčević. Feel free to add your experiences to the Memorial Book.
Be sure to come pay your respects to Dr. Ante Starčević, but this multimedia centre is also intended as a gathering place for those interested in different ideas and cultural projects. Unique space and hall can be rented. It is equipped with audio-visual technology, has a capacity for 60 people and is easily adapted to the needs of visitors. All types of conferences, presentations, business meetings, seminars and trainings can be organized.
